Thirty quiet minutes. Or seventy-five.
A proper head spa: scalp examined, cleansed and exfoliated, steamed, then massaged through the neck and shoulders before a treatment mask. You lie down for all of it.
What actually happens
You are reclined at the basin for the whole treatment — this is not a shampoo with a bit of extra rubbing. It runs in the same order every time:
- Scalp check. A look at what your scalp is actually doing — dry, oily, flaking, tight — before anything is chosen.
- Cleanse and exfoliate. Two passes. The second lifts the build-up of product, oil and dry skin that sits at the root and causes most everyday itching.
- Steam. Warm steam opens things up and softens whatever the exfoliation has loosened.
- Massage. The long part, and the reason most people rebook. Scalp, then neck, then shoulders.
- Mask and rinse. A treatment chosen for what the scalp check found, then a long warm rinse.
Which length to book
Express, thirty minutes (£59). The cleanse, a shorter steam and a solid massage. Good as a first try, and it fits in a lunch hour.
Classic, an hour (£99). The full sequence at full length, with a proper mask. This is the one most people settle on.
Deluxe, seventy-five minutes (£119). Everything in the classic, drawn out — a longer massage through the neck and shoulders, and a second treatment worked through the lengths.
Any of the three can have a blow-dry added for £15, which takes about another half hour. Without it you leave with wet hair, which is fine on a Sunday and less fine on a Tuesday lunchtime.

Head spa is Poppy's speciality, though the whole team is trained on it. Ring the salon and we will put you with whoever has the longest clear run in the diary — this is not a treatment to rush.

- What is a Japanese head spa?
- A long, methodical scalp treatment done lying down: the scalp is examined, cleansed and exfoliated, then steamed to soften build-up, then massaged — the neck and shoulders included — before a treatment mask and a rinse. It is closer to a facial for your scalp than to a shampoo, and the reason people book it is as much the forty minutes of quiet as the condition of their hair afterwards.
- How much is a head spa in Solihull?
- At Jiggs the express thirty-minute head spa is £59, the classic hour is £99, and the deluxe seventy-five minutes is £119. Add a blow-dry for £15 on any of them.
- Should I add the blow-dry?
- If you are going back to work or out afterwards, yes — otherwise you leave with wet hair. It is £15 on top of any of the three and takes about half an hour. Plenty of people skip it on a Sunday and go home.
- Will it help with a dry or itchy scalp?
- Often, yes. Exfoliation and steam lift the product and oil build-up that sits at the root and causes most everyday flaking and itching. It is a treatment, not a diagnosis — anything persistent or painful is a GP or dermatologist question, and we will say so.
- Can I have a head spa with colour on the same day?
- Yes, and it is a good pairing — book the head spa first so the scalp is clean and calm. Ring the salon rather than booking online so we can leave enough time in the diary.
